My goodness, it must be award week! This time I got the Versatile Blogger Award from Sat Nav and Cider, an American blogger in the UK. Check her out. She has beautiful photos of British landscapes.
So now to pay it forward. I will:
* Thank the person(s) who nominated me and link back to them;
* Share 7 things about myself;
* Nominate 15 bloggers I admire; and
* Contact my nominees and let them know.
Thank Sat Nav and Cider, check.
Seven things about myself: You’d think a blogger wouldn’t have any trouble coming up with things, but I do. And I just wrote 26 things about myself for the ABC Award a few days ago.
Okay, let’s see, I’m a travel-loving homebody, my favorite ice cream is French Silk, I just alphabetized my spices for the umpteenth time, our house is furnished almost entirely from Goodwill and I love it, I really need to clean out our garage and I procrastinate by blogging.
And now for fifteen nominees. Oh boy, this is not so much an award as it is a blogger’s version of the chain letters we used to write as kids (if you were born in the letter-writing age, that is), or a mutual admiration club. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. It’s fun.
I only just started blogging about a year ago and I’m ashamed to say I don’t follow fifteen blogs. Not all at once, anyway. All together I have followed more than fifteen, but I drop and add. But that’s okay, because I should be actively looking for good blogs more often, and these awards make me do just that.
For the ABC Award, I nominated five blogs I was already following, some for quite a while now. The following list includes some other favorites and some new ones I will be following.
So the award goes to:
50 Year Project : My Challenge to Visit 192 Countries, Read 1001 Books, and Watch the Top 100 Movies
A Touch of Dutch : American Expat in the Netherlands
Adventures in Expat Land : Living Abroad and Sharing the good, the Less Good, and the Just Plain Odd
Black and (A)broad : Inspiration to Travel Beyond the Limitations of Identity
Dutch in America : English Language News For the Dutch-American Community
Escape Clauses : Quit Your Job. Move Abroad. See What Happens
Fork in My Eye : The Mostly True Tales and Tribulations of a Family on the Fringe
Listverse : Top 10 Lists
Never Contrary : A Place to Put my Thoughts on Paper
NL Planet : The Lowdown on the Lowlands
thestrugglershandbook : Making Absolutely No Difference in Today’s World
It wasn’t possible for some reason, to notify everyone about the the award. So I’m sorry if you’re one of them.
I’m very honored to be a newbie on your list. So interesting to share stories of building lives in different cultures, especially you in the US and me in Nederland. Thanks, Barbara

I’m impressed that you alphabetize your spices. I’m not much of a cook so it isn’t hard to keep track of my salt and pepper 🙂 Congrats on the award and thanks for nominating my blog. You are so very kind!

Thanks, Barbara! I’m a little behind on blogging stuff this week. After the vote, all I wanted to do was play with my camera. Makes me feel better. But I’m on it now. Sat Nav and Cider is very cool. I’m following now. I love blogs that let me travel vicariously. (I’ve never been out of the states.) Will check out the others soon.

Yeah, I’ve been thinking of you. I’m so sorry. Does the bill change you all’s situation as it is now, since it also bans civil unions?
